Setting up Kiosk

Kiosk has been designed to work on a tablet device, it will not be displayed and function correctly on a phone device.

Before it can be used it must be manually installed and configured to suit the site, building or location it will be located in as well as the way that Contractor users are going to access it.

Each tablet device to be used for Kiosk will need the same setup carried out.

Android tablet

The minimum Android version required to install and run Kiosk is 5.0

iOS tablet

The minimum iOS version required to install and run Kiosk is 8.0

Installation of the app

Note | The screengrabs below may differ slightly due to differences in tablets and operating system.

The Kiosk app must be downloaded from the MRI Software appstore, choose the appropriate operating system.

The download must be confirmed, click OK.

Once downloaded, click Open.

Depending on the Settings of your tablet you may see an Install Blocked message, follow the instructions to allow the installation of third party apps and run the .apk file from the Downloads folder to begin the installation.

The installation must be confirmed, click INSTALL.

Confirmation of a successful install, click OPEN.

Alternatively, Kiosk can be opened like any other app by clicking the icon from a page of apps.

Some permission prompts for Kiosk will be displayed consecutively. These will need to be allowed to utilise the photo and location functionality of Kiosk.

Kiosk is now installed and permissions granted.

Configuration

To configure the Kiosk app, the security pin must be entered and confirmed, click NEXT.

To allow communication between the tablet and the MRI Dreamscape tenant for Kiosk, the details must be entered.

The check box for allowing Single Sign On to the tablet can optionally be set here.

In order for Kiosk to present the appropriate tasks for the physical location of the tablet, in the Available Tasks / Assigned To Me grid, a site, building or location must be defined in the setup of the device.

The dropdown contains options for Site, Building and Location. Only one option can be enabled at any one time.

The choice selected (Building in the screen grab below) and the Sequence No. entered will be the values used to filter and display tasks on the Kiosk tablet. Tasks that do not match the values set here will not be visible on the tablet.

The Sequence No. will be the appropriate value from the relevant MRI Evolution database table for site, building or location (F_BG_GROUP, FLOCATE and FAREALO respectively).

If the Single Sign On option has not been checked in the previous Environment and Tenant step, a prompt to set up a default user will be displayed.

  • Click SKIP to enforce each contractor user having to log in to Kiosk when attending the site / building
  • Click OK to enter the credentials of the sole contractor user account to be associated with the tablet, the user will not need to log in to Kiosk since the credentials are stored

Enter Default User credential values, click Enable Default User, click OK.

The Kiosk app is now installed and configured, tap the screen to check in.

If you didn't enable Single Sign On or setup a default user, you will see a log in screen, enter valid credentials and click Login.

The first page after checking in to Kiosk will be the Available Tasks / Assigned To Me grid.

Changing settings

The configuration settings for the Kiosk app can be maintained by clicking the Settings icon, as highlighted below.

The security pin code must be entered again to gain access to the settings page.
